ADAM LAYS WITH HIS WIFE EVE

2008
mixed technique, (pastel, wax, acrylic, oil)
140 x 140 cm

In this work Adam and Eve can be seen after their first sexual relationship out of Paradise.
Onto their face I tried to paint the indifference of breaking apart from God, since they’ve just taken part of the utmost earthly pleasures.
To some extent, this moment typifies our age as well. Their disenchanted face reflects not their sexual relation but the massage that in lack of God everything is just futility.
Otherwise I wanted to paint a delightful landscape that has such an absorbed mental problem in it that set back you from hanging it up on the living-room’s wall comfortably. The two 12 cm high figures refer to the mental problem; the frustrating, internal opposition.
